From Frenchépisode, from New Latin*epīsodium, from Ancient Greekἐπεισόδιον(epeisódion, “a parenthetic addition, episode”), neuter of ἐπεισόδιος(epeisódios, “following upon the entrance, coming in besides, adventitious”), from ἐπί(epí, “on”) + εἰς(eis, “into”) + ὁδός(hodós, “way”).
